Traditional Discovery Circuit: Lima - Cusco and Short Inca Trail in 6 Days

Day 1: LIMA

Welcome at the Lima, Jorge Chavez airport and transfer to the selected hotel.

City Tour Lima

The city tour in Lima is optional and is done in two shifts in the morning or afternoon, depending on the time of day

Arrival in Lima.

The city tour includes a visit to Lima, known as the City of Kings and that will begin his excursion in the afternoon between 14:15 and 14:30.

The tours begins at Huaca Pucllana, which was a pre-Inca ceremonial and administrative building. You will then visit the City Center where you will the Cathedral, the Tomb of Pizarro, the Catacombs of San Francisco, the Congress, the Palace of Torre Tagle, and some residential neighborhoods, such as San Isidro and Miraflores where you can see spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Once your tour is over you will be transferred to your hotel or in Miraflores, the districts of San Isidro.

You will have the afternoon off to acclimatize or take a tour of the city.

 

Day 3: SACRED VALLEY

We pick you up at your hotel (8:30 a.m.) and then we start our tour in the Sacred Valley of the Incas which is a beautiful place with beautiful landscapes and views, its people, its craft markets, and other tourist attractions. In Pisaq we will visit the handicraft market where we will find works in textiles, ceramics, silverware and others, after visiting this beautiful village we will go to the high of the mountain where the archaeological center is located with its imposing constructions of agricultural terraces and other constructions which, despite being over 500 years old, are still intact.

After visiting this place, we will continue our tour along the banks of the river WILCAMAYU (river sacred) until you reach Urubamba where you will have time for lunch and a little rest. Then continue with the tour in OLLANTAYTAMBO a very unique and picturesque village because local people still use the Inca constructions as houses and their narrow streets and the cobblestone streets make this place a beautiful traditional village.

The religious center is located by the high part of the mountain where the temple of the sun continues to impose its majesty; in this place the tour ends at approximately 4:00 p.m. and then we head to the traditional village of Chinchero, where the remains of the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui are located.

We will appreciate your very well preserved Inca walls in the main square and you will also appreciate the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes on the portico, built on the foundations of an Inca construction, this village is a beautiful example of the mestizo and colonial style and at the appointed time return to Cusco.

Day 4: CUSCO – INKATRAIL TO KM 104

  • Distance: 16kms / 10 mills (6 hours or so of walking)
  • Difficulty: Easy / moderate.
  • Walking time: Approximately 6 hours (includes lunch on the route).
  • Walk and terrain: Walk on open roads, some steep trails

Previously the time of the pickup from your hotel will have been coordinated and it varies according to the train schedule, which could be this of 06:10AM or 07:45AM (or others available at the moment of your confirmation).

You will be given your respective box lunch and you will be taken to the train station of Ollantaytambo where the transfer will leave you so that you can board your train and this will take you to km. 104 (it could be km. 106 according to the DRC). In this place, your guide will be waiting for you to immediately begin the tour of the Chachabamba Archaeological Group, which is located at 2250 meters above sea level. You will also pass through the complex until you arrive at Wiñay Wayna, an agricultural center. During the trip, you will be able to appreciate the beautiful views of the Urubamba River as well as the different types of orchids that you will find on the way.

Then, we will take a short break to have the box lunch that was given to you previously. After that, we will continue with our walk to Machupicchu and be able to appreciate the beautiful sunset over the Inti Punku (gate of the sun) after an unforgettable experience we will descend until we arrive to the town of Aguas Calientes.

At all times you will be with your guide who will help you locate your hotel so that you can get settled, then you will coordinate the time for your dinner that will be included, taking advantage of this moment to finalize details of your guided tour in Machupicchu the following day.

Day 5: MACHUPICCHU “THE SUNRISE EXPERIENCE”

According to what you have coordinated with your guide you will have to go to the bus station, for this you have to coordinate with your hotel so they can give you breakfast to take away.

You will go up with your guide by bus (if you wish to go up on foot, please communicate this in writing when you make your reservation).

We will visit the archaeological complex of Machupicchu (2400 m) our guided tour will last approximately 2 hours to 2 hours and a half all around the Inca citadel, visiting the main sites such as the enclosures, plazas, Sacred Fountains, Temples, the agricultural and urban sector.

After our visit you can take advantage to climb the Huaynapicchu Mountain or Machupicchu Mountain (it is important to have the ticket acquired in advance) or you could choose to go down to the town of Aguas Calientes to have lunch (on your own) or rest.

Considering that, you will have to be there 30 minutes before the departure of your train. The average time of the train included is 15:20 hours (the time could vary according to the availability at the time of your confirmation, it could be the train of 16:22 hours, 18:20 hours, 20:50 hours or 21:50 hours).

If you want an earlier train or another improved service like the Vistadome just tell us in your request to send you options. Whatever your train schedule is, it will take you only to the Ollantaytambo station, and at this point, the carrier will be waiting for you with the company's pallet and will bring you to Cusco leaving you near your hotel.
